On Sunday, July 30th, Bandit and his little sister Bailey headed HOME.
As with every litter, we at Hush Harbor have ALL focused on these little ones. It’s a team effort here between myself, my husband, our adult daughters and their families, along with our adult pack of Havanese. We have enjoyed these pups! It IS sad to say good-bye to them; but, it will also give us great joy to pass that pleasure on to their “ready and waiting” forever family. It is VERY fulfilling to see another family light up with smiles and excitement as they begin this new life with their Havanese!
We gain new friends as our Hush Harbor Havanese “family” grows❤️
Every litter is different, but the joy of the journey with them is always a sweet one! We love you Bandit and Bailey!!
While this litter is small in number, they are amazing in markings and color!
The little male pup seems to be a Red Sable, taking after his Poppa Poppie. So far, we believe he will have black skin pigment, but it’s hard to tell at this early stage.
Our sweet little female appears to be a rare white chocolate. (White and cream coat and chocolate skin-nose, lips, eye rims and pads of her paws). Her eyes will open in about three days and we will be able to determine if she is indeed a chocolate like her beautiful Momma Lucie. These two make for a stunning pair!!
Both of the pups have gained 4 ounces in four days. They got their dew claws removed yesterday, so they are tired out from the trip to the vet. Their skin pigment is beginning to come in, so now we wait to see if they are chocolates like their Momma Lucie!
Momma Lucie has the pups up to 11.6 and 8.7 ounces already, so they are able to sleep on their own without constant nursing. This normally takes about 5 days not three. These two pups most definitely have the cream of the feeding line!
Lucie spends a lot of time resting, streching and “growing her pups”.
The vet saw three or four pups in her xray. I think there are 4!
She also got her “maternity hair cut” while at the vet’s office.
Today we got all of our linens ready to go- bedding, hand clothes to deliver and clean the pup and warming towels for those waiting in between pups tiimes. Her whelping pan is her familiar friend. She was quite curious. This is her 4th litter! It’s now time for us to “hurry-up and wait.” 🙂
If you want to be on our waiting list, please give me a call at 314-772-4874.
Lucie's 4th litter-2017 — Comments Off on We think we will have a litter of Hush Harbor Havanese the end of May! 28 Mar 17
While it is very early in the game, we are ready to start the countdown. Lucie and Poppie have just finished their breeding time. If things worked, as they always have, she should whelp the end of May. Pups will be ready to come to their forever homes the beginning of August. We already have several folks on our waiting list. I will begin making contact with them tomorrow. If you are interested in this litter, please give me a call at 314-772-4874, so we can get to know each other and I can answer you questions. It’s an exciting time!!
While Poppa Poppie (left) is perfectly willing to sire another litter now, we believe it best for Momma Lucie (right) to take a break. She is in heat now, but we are working hard to keep her from breeding. Of course we love producing our beautiful Havanese puppies, but our pack is part of our family. Their health always comes first! So, Momma Lucie is resting and we will most likely allow Poppie and her to breed next heat in 6 months, around mid-March. That means we may have another litter of beautiful Poppie/Lucie Havanese in late May- ready to go to their new homes in August. Great timing because it allows you to take those summer trips but get your puppy before the Fall rush hits. Feel free to join our growing waiting list by sending us an email telling us how to best reach you. And of course, we always enjoy having a phone conversation in order to get to know you and what you are looking for in your new “family member.”
Meanwhile, I encourage you to scroll back through ALL of our past litters. I think after you do you will agree that Hush Harbor Havanese really ARE “so much more than just a cute little dog”!
This coming Friday, the day after tomorrow, we must say good-bye to the smallest of the litter, Lil’ Sister. Her new Daddy Person is flying to the Memphis airport where we will deliver her. From there they will fly on to Atlanta. Waiting for this little sweetheart are her new stay at home Mommie Person and her four children! Oh, and did we say that Lil’ Sister is small- well she does not know that! She can take on her brother and her sisters with no problem, so we are confident that she will be well suited for her busy family!
They are quite the pair, evenly matched as they both weigh in at 3.8 pounds at 8 ½ weeks old. Ollie will be living with his big brother, Max. They have the same father, sire Poppie! Madison will be with her Mommie and Daddy Person’s, experienced small breed dog owners who will love her up in every way!! We will miss them, but are confident that they will bring LOTS of JOY to their new homes!!
Hush Harbor Havanese is a family affair. We began as a husband, wife and daughter team. WE have now added a son-in-law to the team! We also have a multi-generational Pack. Our Havanese Pack works hard to teach our “little ones” how to be well behaved Havanese. That is why we keep our pups until they are nine weeks old. We feel that this next 4 weeks are critical!
The litter spends nearly three weeks in the safety of their roomy whelping pan, located near our bedroom. From there they are moved into their “Puppy Palace”, shone in several of the photos in this website. At six weeks, the pups experience much change. They go to the vet for their first round of puppy shots, they transition from puppy mush to dry puppy food and their Momma slowly but deliberately weans them.
Now they are ready for short times of “free play” along with the rest of the pack in a real living room. Now they will learn how to be well mannered Havanese. It looks like wild play, which it is, at first. But slowly we all work together to teach the pups how to behave in this new environment. It takes us all- myself, my husband, the Momma and Poppa, and with this litter we have the help of big sister, Millie. That is all part of the plan- Millie is being trained how to be a good baby sitter now, but this will serve to teach her how to be a good Momma when her time is right. From generation to generation. Oh, and did I mention that we also have great-grandma Grace who steps in when she feels that we are lacking in any way.
Enjoy this video- notice that Poppa Poppie has decided it’s time for the pups to be less rowdy and a bit more respectful. Thanks Poppie- they were just a bit over the top.
Once again, all of our pups have been placed before they celebrate their 5th week.
The 4 pups from Lucie’s litter and the 3 from Ellie’s are ALL RESERVED!
We are blessed to know that they have each found their forever homes. We will spend the next month working to: socialize them, start them on their puppy vaccinations, monitor their food, regulate their play time and help them adjust to the use of their potty pad.
Our pack of adult Havanese will teach them to be well behaved Havanaese. Their Momma Lucie and big sister Millie will spend hours playing and conducting puppy pre-school, as will Momma Ellie and Daddy Chaco with their litter.
Then, when they turn 9 weeks we say good-bye. We are able to do so because by then we will have made new Hush Harbor Family friends. We will hae had many conversations and discussions and gotten to know the new family members as our own friends. How can we NOT spread the joy of our Hush Harbor Havanese with these expectant new friends??
